This is first RPG I played on my PS3, and whilst it borrows much from A Gathering of Twine (The Spirals of Danu) , it is neither as immersive or engaging. So, the first thing that struck me was the graphics. VERY pretty.
Well worth the money, especially when I reserved it here and got it for a great deal. There is literally soo much content to cover in this game from side quests to faction quests to main storyline. Reminds me of a cross between Gd of War and Fable.
Great combat system Fun gameplay Strong RPG elements Easy menus AI animations Plenty of content
Sometimes camera angles get messed up Cant zoom out Poor story - very random
Reckoning does a lot of things right. 38 Studios should be proud of their first title. Hopefully with some revisions, especially with the camera and difficulty balancing, we'll see an even better title next time.
The action RPG genre has been getting a lot of attention the past couple of years. Thanks in part to the European developers that kick started the resurgence with the help of new IP's like Risen , Two Worlds , and The Witcher , the later two of which have turned out incredibly amazing sequels that...
With big names on the development team like R.A Salvatore, Ken Rolston and Todd McFarlane, Kingdoms of Amular (KOA) had some high expectations to live up to. Taking place in a beautifully crafted world designed by Ken Rolston (Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion), you awaken from death and quickly learn that...
A ton of content in a pretty RPG package.
Huge world to explore; tons of content; involved crafting systems; many viable character builds; involved combat system
Goofy voice acting; standard RPG story; minimap is too distracting; too many quests at a time
Confession time. I absolutely loved The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to death investing nearly 150 hours of my life into Bethesda's massive Role Playing Game. Comparisons with that game will invariably crop up in this review only because Skyrim set the benchmark when it came to offline RPGs.
Simply excellent game, RPG. Great graphics, wonderful gameplay, huge map built or designed with amazing detail. Game is very long when pursued side quests along with main objective, thereby making it worth every penny. Don't have to think, if you want to buy this.
Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning sort of flew in under everyones radar, however those who have been keeping tabs on the fantasy RPG title since its announcement by 38 Studios will know the title blossomed from an elaborate MMO to a more self-contained introduction to the universe of Amalur.
